Sutton v’s Portmarnock

It was a tough golf day with a stiff breeze from the west. Two matches at home with Simon Lewis and Kieran Cussens leading out for us followed by Stephen Moriarty and Gareth Noone. Simon and Kieran kept their cool and came out worthy winners closing out their match on the 16th. Stephen and Gareth were not so lucky and despite some brilliant golf their few mistakes were severely punished and Portmarnock took this match, also on 16th

In Portmarnock we had 3 matches which is always a challenge, but the young Sutton team made it clear they were up to the task. Portmarnock opted to go with experience over youth and their strategy on this occasion paid dividends with Niall McNamara and Ken Moore losing on 17th and David Corrigan and James Gilbert falling at the 15th.

Luke O’Reilly and Barry Joyce were in the throes of an epic battle and were all square playing 16 when they got the call that match was over and Portmarnock the victors. Overall, a well contested match that unfortunately went the way of Portmarnock

Unfortunately, not our day but the team gave their all a few putts here and there and result would have been different Our thanks to all who tried their best and to Simon Lewis for our course presentation it got great reviews from our opponents.
